 Hatboro Hurricane Coaches

Heidi Seiberlich   – We are pleased to have Heidi on our coaching staff. Heidi swam for the Hatboro Hurricane’s for 13 years and was on our team the first year we started the winter league. In college she ran Division 2 Cross Country & Track. Some of our older swimmers may remember that Heidi coached our team for the 2003-2004 & 2004-2005 seasons. Heidi’s passion is swimming. She competes in triathalons & ironman competitions. For the USA Triathatlon, she has won “All American Honorable Mention” each year for her age group; from 2004 until present. Coach Heidi is excited to be back and we’re excited too!
Jenny dePadua - Growing up in Sweden, Jenny chose swimming as her sport when she was nine. She swam seriously, enjoying the 100 & 200 meter backstroke, and 400 & 800 meter freesytle. She swam on a district & regional level and qualified for the Junior Swedish Championships in backstroke for a few years. She began coaching beginners & intermediate swimmers as a teen. After moving to the USA, Jenny stayed dry through college, got married, and began teaching at the YWCA. Upon moving here, while watching her daughter in our swim lessons, she was ready to once again get into the water. Jenny then became an instructor and began coaching in 2006. Welcome back Coach Jenny!
Sheri Ryan – Coach Sheri returns for her fifth season as an “official” coach with the Hurricanes. Sheri has over 20 years with the Hatboro Area YMCA as a swim instructor and with swim team experience. Sheri’s focus is on our mini and prep levels; teaching them the fundamentals of competitive swimming, teamwork and sportsmanship. Welcome back Coach Sheri!
Eric Dyke - Coach Eric learned to swim at the YMCA. He joined the “Hurricanes” and swam 6 years, competing in districts & nationals, while also swimming on his high school team. In high school states, Eric medaled in 200 free & 400 free relay. His favorite strokes are freestyle and backstroke. This summer, Eric came full circle; when he joined our coaching staff. Eric will be attending Drexel in a 5 year Engineering co-op and will coach as his schedule permits.

CLINIC OVERVIEW

The swim clinic group structure enables us to accommodate & work with swimmers of varying skill levels. In addition to normal aerobic & anaerobic based training, all levels will devote a large amount of time to starts & turns as well as correct stroke technique. The higher levels will emphasize yardage with some time devoted to nutrition, “all system training”, Total Immersion & taper philosophy. In addition, we will hopefully be having some dry land exercises or games allowing the kids the opportunity to interact with each other outside the confines of the swimming pool.

Weight Training
Full Privilege members aged 13 years – 16 years may use the fitness center unsupervised after completing a documented teen fitness orientation with a YMCA wellness coach.

QWhat group do we sign-up for?
A– Bring your child on the first Monday or Tuesday of the clinic at 5:30pm. Our coaching staff will access their swimming abilities & tell the children in which group they have been placed. If you cannot make it on that first Monday or Tuesday, you can still bring your child Thursday or Friday of the 1st week for assessment.
QDo siblings get discounts?
A– No. No discouny is offered for siblings.

QWhere can I register for the swim clinic?
A– At the membership desk. If you do not know what group to sign up your child in; sign up for the lowest group, prior to clinic. Your child will be assigned a group the first day. If the group is different than what you signed up for, please make the change immediately after practice.

QWhat are the minimum requirements?
A– We only ask that your child be able to swim one length of front crawl with rotary breathing and one length of proper backstroke, although it does not have to be particularly fast. That’s it! If your child cannot complete the requirements at this time, please look into the many levels of swim lessons that we offer here at the YMCA.

We know you will enjoy the swim clinic and we encourage you to join the swim team! It’s a great place to become a better swimmer & meet new friends!
