Christian Street YMCA Adult Programs

 

 The Christian Street YMCA is for everyone!   Adults in particular have a wide range of opportunities to persue better physical fitness and well being in spirit, mind and body.  These opportunities extend from the Aerobics Room to the Cardio Room, the Weight Room, the Swimming Pool and beyond!  Whether you prefer a mat stretch, a run on the treadmill or a swim in the pool, the YMCA has something for every 18 to 80+ member. Arthritis Aquatics

Taught in conjunction with the Arthritis Foundation, this low impact class takes place in the shallow water. Concentration is on range of movement, flexibility, and joint strength. It is not necessary to know how to swim. 
 

Water Aerobics

This low impact total body workout is great for all fitness levels. Resistance aids and noodles are used to tone and condition while cardio helps you lose weight.

Chair Yoga

This Yoga class is taught with students seated in chairs instead of on the floor. It is excellent to improve joint strength, flexibility and mobility.  

SilverSneakers MSROM (Muscular Strength and Range of Motion)

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

 

Adult Beginner Swim Lessons

This class is for adult with little water experience, the focus will be on comfort placing face in the water learning breath techniques and floatation as well as skills for the deep water.
